Engagements

Know the shape, the timeline and the price before you commit.

Every engagement is one of seven shapes, each with a typical timeline, a fixed set of outputs and a price quoted after one call.

The shapes

Seven ways we work with clients

Timelines are typical, not guaranteed. A busy interview calendar or a slow host can add a week, and we tell you when it does.

Research sprint

Typical

2 weeks

What goes in

Customer or staff interviews, or desk research when interviews aren't possible.

What comes out

A findings deck and a written build, wait or no recommendation.

Who it suits

Anyone about to spend on a build, a lease or a launch.

Prototype

Typical

3–4 weeks

What goes in

A decision already made, plus access to a handful of real users.

What comes out

A clickable prototype tested with those users.

Who it suits

Founders who need to show something before engineers get involved.

Sprint + prototype

Typical

5–6 weeks

What goes in

A question and a rough idea.

What comes out

Findings deck, recommendation and a tested prototype.

Who it suits

Owners who want to go from "should we?" to "here's what to build" in one run.

Fractional product owner

Typical

Monthly, part-time

What goes in

A build already running, and nobody on your side owning it.

What comes out

A groomed backlog, a roadmap and someone who says no to scope creep.

Who it suits

Small companies who can't justify a full-time product hire.

Website

Typical

2–3 weeks

What goes in

Your services, your photos and a call about who the site is for.

What comes out

A fast service site with analytics and search set up, on a host you control.

Who it suits

Service businesses whose site is slow, dated or missing.

Website audit

Typical

1 week

What goes in

The URL of your existing site.

What comes out

A scored technical report and a prioritised fix list.

Who it suits

Anyone who suspects their site is holding them back.

Local SEO setup

Typical

2 weeks, then optional monthly

What goes in

Your business details, service area and listings access.

What comes out

Listings, citations and on-page basics set up and verified.

Who it suits

Businesses that serve a neighbourhood and don't show up in its searches.

How pricing works

Fixed price for fixed scope

Quoted after a call

Every price comes out of the 30-minute call, in writing. We don't publish prices because two research sprints rarely need the same number of interviews.

Fixed-scope work

Sprints, prototypes, websites, audits and local SEO setup are fixed price. The scope is written down before you pay. If it changes, the price changes in writing too.

Retainers

The fractional product owner and the optional local SEO follow-on are monthly. Stop at the end of any month.

What you won't find here

No hourly rates, no "starting from" numbers and no tiered packages.

What a first call looks like

Thirty minutes, and you leave with a scope

You describe the situation

What you're trying to build, open or fix, and what's already been tried. No deck needed.

We ask the awkward questions

Who's the customer, what would make this a no, and what happens if you do nothing.

We name the shape and the timeline

One of the seven above, or a plain "you don't need us for this".

You get a written scope

A page with the outputs, the typical timeline and a fixed price, within a couple of days.

Questions we get on the first call

Before you book

What happens after the first call?

Within a couple of days you get a written scope: what we'd do, what you'd receive, the typical timeline and a fixed price. If it fits, we book a start date. If it doesn't, keep the scope; it's useful on its own.

Can we start small?

Yes. A website audit is one week and a research sprint is two. Both stand on their own, and both tell you whether a bigger engagement is worth it.

Do you work remotely, or outside Vancouver?

Yes. We're based in Vancouver and work with clients across Canada remotely. Interviews and workshops run over video.

Who owns the deliverables?

You do. Findings decks, briefs, prototypes, site code and accounts are yours once the invoice is settled. Take a brief to any developer or a site to any host.

What don't you do?

We don't build e-commerce stores and we don't run paid ads. If those are what you need, we'll say so on the call and point you elsewhere.

Next step

Book the call, describe the problem, and we'll tell you which shape it is.
